Time to get crafty. Here are easy ways to include family members in your wedding without making them part of the bridal party.
Ushers
Ushers help your guests find their seats, give out programs, and serve as all-purpose greeters. This job is perfect for a friendly family member or friend. A Must for this job is excellent social skills. If you are planning a garden wedding at home someone to assist with car parking is also an idea. Talk to your neighbors and let them know the time and day. Some may be happy to park their cars in the garage for the day and give your guests use of their driveway.
Readers or Candle Lighters
A memorial candle is a great way to honor the departed—in addition to honoring a beloved living loved one who lights the candle. Likewise, if you plan to have readings at your wedding, consider asking a special cousin or friend of your parents to do the honours. Someone with excellent communication skills possibly not the super shy cousin.
Use Their Talents
Start scouring your friends list and you may be surprised by how many truly talented people you see. So take advantage of those talents! Ask a talented friend or family member to sing, or your brother-in-law to play guitar at your wedding. Many performers love a chance to showcase their talents, and in allowing them to do so, you provide yourself a low-cost—or even free—way to entertain your guests.
You may have an aunt that is a talented dressmaker, she may be able to help with the wedding dress alterations.

You may have an it geek that would love to put together a wedding website. Handy for posting directions, times and invitation replies. Wedding gift ideas or dress codes for the day.
Wedding dress shopping
This is a difficult one as everyone will want to be involved and come wedding dress shopping with you. However this is not a good idea. Too many people can cloud your judgement and you may finish up wearing a gown on your wedding day that is not your choice. But pushed upon you by one of your entourage that you didn’t want to offend.
Just take one or two people with similar taste to yours that are not afraid to give an honest opinion. or if you are plus size don’t take someone that will want to dress you in a size 6 and doesn’t understand the clothing challenges you sometimes face.
Chauffeur
This is always a good one for the special uncle or auntie. They may even have a vintage car for you to use for the day.
Thank Them in the Program
If you really just want to make a beloved family member feel special, then don’t make him or her work. Instead, simply give the loved one a nod in your program, thanking them for contributing to your life, marriage, or wedding in whatever way they have.
